I'll admit I thought you would have called. This time of year you always seem to get ahold of everyone that you've ever known. I'm staring at the phone. Keeping myself busy with the thought and hope that you are sitting home alone. And I know you know the number. Unless everything has changed, the cards came yesterday. And I can't believe how you just made out. Can't believe how you just made out if my thoughts count.
2.
Chalk it up to your need to sing about the holidays. But who would have thought we were sitting and waiting to watch you wreck everything? I can admit it was never easy to listen to you sing but now that you're gone all the songs have different meanings. All your odes to good cheer and joy bring different feelings. I can admit that I'd breezed over half the words you sang but now that you're gone, since you're gone, all the songs have changed.
3.
Broken Leg 00:18
Broken leg, broken leg. From pulling your Christmas sled. Will you take me out there behind the barn and put a bullet in my head? 'Cause I'm no use to you now. No use to you now. No use to you now, broken leg. Broken leg!
4.
It must have been as awkward as confessions get. I'm sure I said some things that, right now, I should regret. I have this feeling I should apologize and it might be strange that I haven't yet. I've been hoping I'd remember a bit more of the evening. A bit more of this morning. Did I at least give you some warning? I'll have to get guess what your response would be to all these things that I've been thinking and save my poetry for when I haven't spent my past two days off drinking. But I didn't say anything really crazy? Please tell me I didn't say anything really crazy.
5.
Golden Rings 01:42
Have you noticed that every time I sing a verse I only add one thing you haven't already heard? Followed by a summary of the last few songs from the previous year's EP. After that, it's all re-treading the past and the song's getting old so fast. It never kept it from becoming a classic. So this year I'll just add that I was running from something. With everybody talking about golden rings and what it meant to me. Golden rings.
6.
I really wasn't trying to look in. I wasn't even sure if it was where you were living but I noticed a lack of decoration and a Christmas tree a color we never made it. I can understand a better off house with a better off man but you'll never be able to explain it if Christmas isn't still your favorite.
7.
Good Times 02:56
I know you're making plans. Hear you talking to your friends about where you'll be living next year and how I'll still be living here. If you'd please., please, please stick around until after the holidays. 'Cause I hardly remember last year. I promise to live it up this year if you please, please please...
8.
It's getting harder to stay sane and hear the greatest hits of Christmas again. The same old sound. The same old holiday. I can't feel it. And there's a box under the stairs filled with the records that I put down last year. Dig the bones of Christmas past? I can't do it. 'Cause if I hear one more person sing 'White Christmas'.... So this year that's how Christmas sounds. With nothing dug up, nothing dragged out, nothing brought down. We'll make last round the last stand of the twenty songs that no one cares if we hear again. 'Cause if I hear one more person sing 'White Christmas'...
9.
All I want for Christmas is some cash in a card. Actually, you can keep the card. Twenty five, fifty, one hundred dollars! Forget about a stocking, start stuffing my wallet. This year I'll be jolly all the way to the bank and I'll have you to thank because all I want for Christmas is some cash in a card. Actually, you can keep the card.

Easy Song 01:43
The way you see things so clearly. The way you're sorry but you won't be making your usual late night call and while you've got me that's not all. The way you talk about this town so much but you never come down. The way that every conversation ends with a headache and a day in bed and it's not like we don't know what's going on. The way that each of us knows that the other one's better alone than we ever could be together is why I stay with you, tried and true.
11.
Empty Box I 00:49
Sweetheart, surprise! I bought you the same thing this year that I bought you last year. I even wrapped it up in that same old dirty box that I saved, so nothing's changed. Here's your empty box.

Empty Box II 00:35
Sweetheart, surprise! I bought you the same thing this year that I bought you last year. I even wrapped it up in that same old dirty box that I saved, so nothing's changed. Here's your empty box.

I can understand writing a song about your very first Christmas alone but, again, there was a CD waiting for me when I got home. This Christmas makes four years in a row. And I guess it says says something about our situation. All this one way communication. I was a bad girlfriend and now I got a new boyfriend. And things got ugly toward the end. I may have forgotten a call or two and, you're right, it was me who broke up with you but it was something you kind of forced me to do.
14.
Let's put up a Christmas tree and let's build a fire on Christmas Eve. Let's buy a ton of presents for each other. Let's go to bed and get up together. And we can head downstairs and find what we've left there. I'll tear through my things and you will find my ring. And I'll get down on one knee. And you'll say 'yes' to me. And every year at Christmas we'll remember. Our anniversary will be the 25th of December.
15.
I spent just over two years begging. I did one year of heavy complaining. Now I've shaken every present underneath the tree and this one feels just about right to me. The first year I thought, perhaps you didn't hear me and then last year you told me you didn't have the money. But this year I can see it in your brown eyes, Honey, how you wrapped it kinda crazy and you think you're pretty funny. And in two more days, when all of my doubt goes away, I'll start talking to you again.
16.
Mix Tape 01:58
I can understand my exclusion from certain Christmas traditions now that I'm not around. But there's still the unresolved issue and you know you're gonna do it, don't you? And the last three tunes go on and on and I know you have room for this little song. Want to be part of your holiday. Will you have me on your Christmas mix tape? No burned CDs. No MP3s. We are going to cassette. This year we're decking your walkman. And the last three tunes go on and on and I know you have room for this little song. Want to be part of your holiday. Will you have me on your Christmas mix tape?
17.
We can't do Christmas like we did last year. Just you and i alone to revel in the season's cheer. 'Cause February 3, you broke up with me. Now all I want for Christmas is your new boyfriend to get hit by a car.

about

Mostly written in the interest of having songs to play at the band's annual Angry Christmas events, these tunes veer from classic country to 90's power-pop to 00's indie-jangle. Call it an "anthology." Call it a "greatest hits." Just don't call it a comeback.

Please note that this record is 'name your price' with no minimum. These songs were not written or recorded with the intention of becoming rich, and we would prefer you download them for free rather than forego owning them based on cost. The choice of price is yours, completely. Merry Christmas!
